Equipping a new generation of brain scientists with 21 C knowledge and skills. The goal is to help the EPFL realize its vision of creating Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) catering to a diverse audience of over 10,000 learners around the globe.
This project employs the latest data collection techniques to build models and simulations of brain components, processes, and functions.
Three MOOCs focusing on digital reconstruction of the brain have been launched on edx.org. EPFL is beta-testing another MOOC about simulating part of the hippocampus. These MOOCs target a sophisticated audience who wishes to learn how to use EPFL’s latest simulation tools and neuroscience data for their own research.

The Whole Range
In addition to these advanced MOOCs, a series of more basic neuroscience MOOCs for bachelor or master’s level students is being developed, covering the entire range from neurogenetics to behavior, with a specific focus on integrative simulation.

High Participation
Since the launch of the first Simulation Neuroscience MOOC in 2017, there have been over 10,000 registrations.
