“Let My People Know” – French Talmud
Steinsaltz Center, France
For the first time in French, the volumes will contain full-color images and illustrations, greatly enhanced explanations of essential background concepts, as well as fascinating historical and cultural anecdotes that shed light on this work of immense significance.
The Talmud is the Jewish Book par excellence. It is a vast living compendium of Jewish belief, practice and history—the lifeblood of Jewish tradition.
In his book The Essential Talmud, Rabbi Steinsaltz explains that throughout history, Jewish communities where the local authorities issued decrees against studying Talmud, invariably ended up losing their prominence and strength.

New and Updated
The Steinsaltz Center has been working on the translation of the Talmud into French for over two decades. This initiative has been extremely well received as it combines Rabbi Steinsaltz’s hallmark clarity and brevity in texts, allowing Jews of all backgrounds to engage in its study directly. In addition to publishing previously unpublished material, the Drahi Foundation is sponsoring the publication of all the already-published volumes in a new format, including the expanded and revised supporting material that will be available in the new volumes, creating a complete and compelling set of the entire Babylonian Talmud for the French-speaking public. This will literally be a once-in-a-generation event for French Jewry.
