A project offering fourth graders the experience of the Opera through a special adaptation of Mozart’s well known work, accompanied by a full classical orchestra.
The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva chamber orchestra was established in 1973 by a group of Jewish musicians who had recently immigrated to Israel. The Conductor Laureate and former Musical Director of the orchestra was Israel Prize winner, Maestro Mendi Rodan, of blessed memory. Currently the Sinfonietta’s Musical Director is Maestro Nir Kabareti.
Today the Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva is synonymous with excellence. Its diverse members, new and veteran residents of Israel of all ages, have joined forces to create a polished professional orchestra that performs famous classics as well as originals by modern composers.
Throughout the years, hundreds of world class musicians have performed with the Sinfonietta, including Vadim Repin, Leonard Bernstein, and Isaac Stern, among others.

Educating on Music
The Sinfonietta sees musical education for the younger generations as a central mission due to the role it plays in developing creative thinking, imagination, concentration, and listening skills. Its various special concert series target preschools, elementary schools, high schools, the Ben Gurion University, and several academic colleges in the Negev.

Magic in the Negev
Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, instead of four live concerts, a video-tape was made of The Magic Flute concert performed by the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva with conductor Eitan Schmeisser and soloists from the Israeli Opera. Forty elementary schools in Beer Sheva received a link to watch the broadcast, which was screened during music classes and under the guidance of their music teachers. The entire project was carried out at the peak of the pandemic between the months of October 2020 and June 2021. The Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva is the only orchestra in Israel that has managed to sustain its educational projects during the pandemic, and it was the support of PLFA that enabled it to do so.
